Bruny Island District School is one of a kind and Bruny kids are a very special bunch. Because of where they live, Bruny Kids are really connected to nature. They are surrounded by it everywhere, everyday and, without even trying they develop a strong sense of place, of belonging and a deep connection to country. This connection comes in many forms from surfing the waves, walking in the forests, fishing the oceans, jumping off the jetty, climbing trees, camping at the pristine beaches.
Bruny kids have dirt under their fingernails, salt in their hair and fresh air in their lungs. Their varied experiences of country, of living close to the land and the natural rhythms of the earth have all sorts of positive and long lasting impacts: improved physical and mental health, a greater sense of wellbeing, and a desire to care for the environment.
Not all kids get outdoors, not all kids experience nature in the way Bruny kids do. Not all kids are so lucky!
We believe that by publishing the Bruny Kids and Nature stories through Kuno earth, we are creating digital content that is worth sharing and that by doing so we may inject our futures with a tiny seed of hope.
Does your child have a story to tell about their experiences in the natural wonders of Bruny Island? If so, send it to claire@kuno.earth
