About Peter

Peter is a teacher and dentist with a love of nature and background of working to protect forests in Tasmania

Background

Born in Zimbabwe, of English parents I came to Australia in 1959. Lived in NSW. Graduated from Dentistry in 1974 and moved to Tasmania in 1977. I have lived variously in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. I completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Sydney University in 1974. I worked in London after graduating before returning to live in the Northwest of Tasmania. After decades of running a Dental practice in Tasmania, I completed a Bachelor of Teaching and taught college students Mathematics and Science in the UK and Australia for a decade. I recently gained a BA in Ancient History from the University of Queensland after which I spent a year following in Odysseus footsteps through Greece and Turkey. Hands-on campaigning for the environment commenced for me with the logging of the Cam River valley in northwest Tasmania. I have served as President of the Tarkine National Coalition and worked as the Wilderness Societys Tarkine campaigner. My efforts on behalf of Tasmanias forests scored me an elite membership of the Gunns 20 as defendant number 18. I now live in Launceston , Tasmania.
