Priceless place of solace in our city

Mosman
Apart from the extraordinary environmental values of North head, it has incredible views.

It looks directly down the southern coastline where you see the great sandstone outcrops. It looks to the city where you see the northern shoreline, the four headlands that are covered in pristine native vegetation and then you look into the distance to see the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. It is truly spectacular.

The military values are extraordinary as well. The military school of artillery is an art deco building of grandeur with a parade ground that would be the most extraordinary parade ground in Australia. It has values that must be protected for our future generations to enjoy.

Sadly a lot of the people don't know they're here. That's the sad thing about it, that many people have not been to North head, and to Middle head. That's not the answer you want, but that's the reality of it. You know, we're in a city of five million people and we're struggling for parkland and places of recreation.

Being in a city of five million people where we're struggling to find parkland and places of recreation, places of solace and reflection, these lands become more and more important every day.

And actually, we saw it during COVID, where families came together to be in the parkland, to kick a ball with their children, to ride their bikes, and to experience these lands. Many had never been here before, and it opened a whole new world to many people.

It's impossible to put a value on the health benefits that lands of this nature provide to our population.
