Mosman Parks & Bushland's 60th Anniversary

Mosman
In 1964, a Mosman resident noticed bushland on Sydney Harbour being bulldozed. An Association was formed by outraged Mosman residents. Among them were Joan and Eileen Bradley (the Bradley sisters), the originators of a system of Bush Regeneration known as the Bradley Method.

These were the days of slashing and burning to control weeds - not an effective control, because the weeds just grew back. The Bradley sisters realised that native plants, once freed from the competition of weeds, could recolonise the bushland all by themselves.

The two objectives of the early members of Mosman Parks & Bushland continue today. We save public land and we conserve bushland.
