At the neck, a viewing platform enables you to quietly observe Little Penguins after dark, as they return from the ocean, and waddle their way up the Neck Beach to return to their burrows in the sand-dunes. It is important not to disturb the Penguins, so stay off the beach after dark, and use only red cellophane covered torchlight as the bright light from normal torches will disturb them. You will have to be patient - as sometimes it is up to an hour or more after dark before the Penguins will start to return. None-the-less they are magical creatures and this is a wonderful experience for kids.
