A superb, wild and remote surf spot on the edge of the Southern Ocean
Track details
From the Cloudy Bay carpark, turn right and follow the track over the headland and down to middle beach. This is a favourite spot for locals, with wonderful surf conditions - at times very rough and dangerous - with a sense of wildness and remoteness, perched at the southern end of Bruny Island, with nothing here between you and Antarctica.
Conditions
Cloudy Bay can be wild, rough and dangerous at times, with unpredictable undercurrents and rips. There is a memorial here and people have died in rough conditions here, so this is only for experienced surfers and confident swimmers in the right conditions.
Location
7150, South Bruny, Tasmania, Australia
