Track details

From the car park you can see some picnic tables and follow a path out to the exquisite white sandy beach. Keep off the soft sand which is important habitat for shorebirds like the Pied and Sooty Oystercatchers. Hansson's* beach can be followed south for a good half a kilometre before rounding the small headland of two tree point and continuing along to Hewn Stone Head, before returning. (* On some maps you’ll also see this referred to as either Barker’s beach or Dunckel’s beach). Two tree point is named after the two trees at its northern end – thought to be the very same two trees noted by Captain James Cook in 1777.
