From the car park, follow the path up to the lighthouse, where you can look at the lighthouse, read some of the history, and follow some short walks nearby to view points out across the dolerite cliffs of South Bruny, to Tasmania’s South-East Cape, to nearby Courts Island (Grass Island), and across the mighty Great Southern Ocean – where the next major landmass is Antarctica. Tours of the Lighthouse itself can be arranged through www.capebrunylighthouse.com, and the Cape Bruny Lightstation Museum, located next to the car park, contains an array of fascinating historical artefacts. There is also the option to walk down to the nearby Lighthouse bay.
