Panay, Philippines

Panay Island
The triangle-shaped island of Panay is the sixth-largest of the Philippines archipelago, and has an amazing array of landscapes and wildlife habitats. The Central Panay Mountain Range is a critical biodiversity hotspot, as is the Panay Peninsula Natural Park. Panay is divided into four provinces, with many rivers.

While tourists flock to the beaches of Borocay, the island has much more to offer Nature lovers. As the fourth-most populous island of the Philippines, it is also facing major conservation challenges. A growing cohort of community members are advocating for its protection, including Kuno's Coordinator for the Philippines and Southeast Asia, Raz Salvarita.
