Mosman Wildlife

Mosman
The remnant moist gully forests, dry ridge-land woodlands, heathlands, grasses and foreshores of Mosman provide rich habitat for dozens of native bird, mammal and reptile species.

More than 60 species of native animals frequent the Mosman peninsula. This includes nine reptile species, 43 different types of native birds and three frog species. The remarkable Peron's tree frog, eastern water dragon, long-nosed bandicoot, and common ringtail possum find home in Mosman's bushland reserves. Rich in birdlife, Mosman provides important habitat to species such as the variegated fairy wren, the endangered Powerful Owl, and in more recent years the Australian brush turkey. Mosman is blessed by a morning cacophony of bird calls including healthy populations of Cockatoos, Kookaburras and Lorikeets.
