Spring is blossoming: National Wattle Day

Here are some facts about Wattles: 

🔸There are more than 1000 different species of Wattle (Acacia). Golden wattle is just one of them. 
🔸Wattle flowers provide food for insects and other animals, while the plants themselves can provide shelter and habitat.
🔸Wattles can be found all over Australia. Different species have evolved to cope with very different conditions.
🔸Many Australian Acacia species are adapted to Australia's fire-prone ecosystems, and they are often among the first plants to regenerate after fire. 
🔸In many places flowering wattles signify the arrival of spring. But with so many different species, there is most likely a wattle flowering somewhere in Australia every day of the year.
